Why We Started Clearwater Deck Builders

Too many homeowners in Pinellas County have a story about a deck contractor who disappeared mid-job, quoted one number and invoiced another, or skipped the permit and left the homeowner holding the risk at resale. Clearwater Deck Builders exists because that shouldn't be the standard. We're a Clearwater-based crew focused on one thing: building decks, screened porches, and pergolas that are permitted correctly, priced honestly, and built to actually survive a Florida summer.

We won't pretend to be a decades-old institution — we're not, and we'd rather tell you that upfront than dress up the site with numbers we can't back. What we can promise is a real person who answers the phone, a written estimate that doesn't change after the fact, and a crew that treats your yard like it's the last job of the day, not the fifth.

Built for Clearwater's Specific Conditions — Not a National Template

Decks in Clearwater and throughout Pinellas County almost always need a permit, and anything attached to the house or elevated more than a step typically needs engineered plans that satisfy Florida Building Code wind-load requirements for our coastal exposure. We handle the drawings, the permit application, and every inspection along the way — that part of the process is entirely on us, not something you have to chase down.

We also pay close attention to details that matter more here than almost anywhere else in the country: hardware that won't corrode near salt air, drainage and airflow that keep humidity from rotting joists from the inside out, and footing depths sized to Pinellas County's sandy soil and, in low-lying spots near the water, a higher-than-usual water table.

What We Won't Do

• We won't quote a number we can't hold. The written estimate is the price — no fuel surcharges, no "while we're in there" upsells sprung on you mid-project.
• We won't skip the permit to save time. An unpermitted deck is a liability you inherit, and it can stall a home sale years down the line. We pull the permit every time it's required, full stop.
• We won't leave your yard a mess. Materials get staged carefully, scrap gets hauled off daily, and we walk the site with you at the end — not just a text saying it's done.

Our home base is Clearwater, and that's where most of our current projects are — from the barrier-island lots near Clearwater Beach and Island Estates to the inland neighborhoods around Countryside and the US-19 corridor. We also take on projects in Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, Belleair, and Belleair Bluffs.
